Soul Keepers

Archetypal Art Series Honouring the Lineage of the Medial Woman and Intuition. Original Paintings.

The history of intuition is as beautiful, enigmatic and sad as the history of the feminine and our relationship with The Earth.

Intuition was once considered a higher form of intelligence, a means of connection with the voices and guidance of the spiritual world, with the Goddess through the body, and later with God. As rationality took over we were separated from our earthy origins and the gap between body/soul and mind itself widened.

Cursed, feared, labeled foolish, abused and pushed aside, our natural connection to the world and the mysteries of life was shut out in the dark. Little did we know that the darkness was pregnant with gestating life, and that deep within, something has been gestated over time.

“The present contains within itself the past and the future. The lucidity of consciousness rests upon dark, unconscious seeds out of which have grown or will grow the objective cultural values. It is this unconscious background which is perceived by the medial structural form.”

Intuition is a deeper way of knowing that is connected to eros and requires us to feel our way around, listen carefully and open ourselves to what was, what is and what could be. A way and means of healing, wisdom and love.

The Earth, mediatrix and original prophetess, is the mentor of all the women who had dedicated their lives to the service of the continuous process of life. Her story, the story of the soul and the story of women, are all intertwined. They are the receivers and carriers of the spirit, keepers of the flame of life.

The medial structural form or medial woman as presented to us by the Jungian analyst Toni Wolff, navigates the world with her intuition and, through a long process of development, self-awareness and integration, can become a mediatrix that awakens us to the mysteries of the psyche, translating the contents of the unconscious while holding space for continuous spiritual/psychological growth.

“The objective and collective psychic contents, however, can only be adequately expressed in an objective language which, apart from art, would have to be a psychological or symbolic one… the medial woman perceives, and is formed by, the unconscious, germinal background elements of a person, a situation or a period.”

“Immersed as she is "in the collective unconscious,” it would be her cultural task to find and express its meaning, and in this way to accomplish a life-promoting compensatory function.”
